Sven Schlarb The purpose of the Archiving Conformance Seal is to certify conformance to eArchiving standards as defined by the E-ARK specifications. By adhering to and/or implementing the E-ARK specifications interoperability of digital repository systems and archival solutions can be reached.
The E-ARK specifications, such as the specifications for the E-ARK SIP, AIP, and DIP formats, are being maintained by the Digital Information LifeCycle Interoperability Standards Board (DILCIS Board).
There are several steps which need to be carried out by a designated representative from an organization (digital repository maintainer) or company (solution provider). See FAQ entry “What is the process for acquiring the eArchiving Conformance Seal?“
The eArchiving Conformance Seal is awarded by the European Commission in the context of the European Commission’s eArchiving Initiative together with the E-ARK consortium.
